Is there a thread (similar to oil change and front brakes) detailing the changing of the air filtwer on the Savage?
I searched around and didn't come across one.
If not, anyone have any any tips? I changed my plug today and hoping I do not have to take the tank off again...

Got a manual? The air filter is so easy, its self explanatory.Just knowing where it is is sufficient info for changing it. Look behind the tin on the right side.

Take the seat off, and it's easier than falling off a log.
What shocked me is how expensive it is. I paid thirty, but I see it more on the Internet.
What gives?

thats wayyyyy too expensive.
I was considering the hi flow homemade filter someone detailed on here, but was a little hesitant because of my dusty lanes. I ended up cutting up a fram 3xxx and caulking it into the stock filter frame, after cutting out the stock material of course. The fram has more pleats and is taller to boot, so I shold have much more area.
$5 and some headscratching

It can be done without removing the seat if you have an off-set screwdriver
As for airfilter, I bought some NU FOAM ($4) from Walmart (suggested by the guru in here) and slapped on the old (carefully cut out) filter. I still have enough material to do 20 more filters

If u have the manual that came with the bike it's in there. I thought abt rebuilding the old 1 but haven't looked how it's made yet.
