windshield or No windshield

put front windshield on tonight and rode a bit...
1st off it seems i am to tall for it and i am looking right through the top edge of it?

also after slumping down a bit and leaning back i could see right through it but i could feel that it made the bike handle significally diffrent...
felt as if the bike shook more down the road and it also felt like i was behind a mac truck after riding so long without a window...

had to put it on cause we are taking a trip and might end up coming home in the light darkness or in the dark..
hoping to prevent as less bug count as possible in the beard...

The idea is to take most of the blast off your chest. And I like some on my shoulders so more wind goes though my helmet.

I am getting about 55-57 MPG. Much better than my car. Thing is, it's like a new computer, fast at first, but you want more after a while.

I baught my bike with a windshield on it,I was going to take it off once I got it home,but I got to like so much it;s still on there,personaly I think it improves gas mileage,the windshield is smooth and you are not.

Without, it felt like the wind was constantly pushing me off teh back of the thing. As for placement, it should go like Paladin said, at about nose level. You're supposed to look over it.

If all I did was 55 and under I may have left it off. I am too much like a parasail with it off!!

I like the feeling of not having a shield but since I ride thru the winter I need it to cut the freezing wind.

After ridding my bike for 1 month and being buffetted by wind gusts constatnty, I broke done and bought a cheap $100 windshield at the beginning of july. It's mounted about nose height, as reccommended by the wise sages here. The buffetting has been cut down greatly as it guides the wind around me and hasn't affected gas milage. I thought it would put a good shake on the handlebars, but it actually feels more stable.

Shakes when adding a windshield are due to the WS not being balanced/even/centered (pick a word).

Some WS are made so that there is no adjustments. Those are easiest to mount. Some are more universal and have sliding mounts to accommodate multiple bikes. Those have to be setup correctly. Lots of measuring to make sure it's on evenly. Bike shouldn't pull when riding. Took me several tries to get mine setup.

After many thousands of miles with a fairing, then driving the Hack with a Show Chrome windshield (and the Harley/car rig with the HD version of the same shield) and my old Mephis Shades on my B-i-L's 88, I'm looking for a small fairing for the '03 sidecar tug. Once you are out of the breeze if need be but get some air over your head and can make it go up your sleeves on a hot day, I never want to be w/o the fairing, Also they can be more aerodynamic that a flat shield. Max
