If she runs great with-out choke, just don't pull the choke.
What am I missing? Why do any mods?

it just seems to run smoother an shift without any backfiring....even feels like better throttle response.....i only noticed it when i forgot to push the choke all the way in... i thought it was the new plug i put in but when i parked at my shop it idled like sh!t....then i found the choke one notch out

The choke is actually an enrichener, when you left it out one notch you were adding fuel as you were riding which of course richened your mix negated the stock lean condition. But as you idled it was trying to flood.

I can't recommend running one knotch out for very long. Too much fuel will wash the oil off of your cylinder walls causing excessive ring wear. And in turn increasing your oil consumption.
Get a jet kit from lancer in the market place and do it right.

i have a pretty brand new 03.... does this mean that the factory jets are to small and need to be a little bigger jetted?
i havent yet tackled the carb on this bike and have only messed with the vw solex carbs and holley 5200 series carbs...
i hope i can figure this one out as soon as i sit down with it...
seems i got some backfiring on shifting most of the time but havent narrowed down exacts of when.....
also the bike gives a poot pop type sound after you shut if off everytime,... long riding or short riding

Suzuki tuned these bikes extremely lean from the factory to meet EPA guidelines.
