Fuel leak near cylinder
08/03/08 at 19:07:27
Ok so i just got my bike today and the previous owner said it started leaking gas around the cylinder near where the carb hooks up.Oh and she said it was leaking from the cylinder but I didnt think it would leak gas from there, maybe oil but not gas. Has anyone had a similiar problem. I'm charging the battery and should know more tomorrow when I get to work on the bike. I was just seeing if this could be common. It sounds like the gasket that hooks up to the cylinder but Im a newbie and have'nt got to begin working on the bike. Thanks again for the help...

Gas just doesn't leak from there unless it got there from an unusual way.
Very important!
check the crankcase for gas before you run it.
If the gas got there in liquid form, it's most likely from either a failed float valve or a failed petcock diaphram. Check the vacuum line for gas, shouldn't be any in there. Also could be some in the air box, check the air filter, check the drain plug in one of the drain hoses at the bottom of the bike.

GOOD, a bad battery means you arent running it before you make sure theres no gas in the oil..
