Sissy Bar

The bike had the oem rack and sissy bar when I got it. Does anyone know  of taller sissy bar that will fit the oem receiver? It is just a pain to put anything on the rack with that short little bar.

I don't know of anything specific, but Paladin always says anything can be made to fit a Savage.

As I recall, that is 5/8 square stock.  I suppose a guy could just by some and bend it into shape.  Also, it is possible to take the existing bar loose, lift it upward, and retighten it.  Unfortunately, you lose the stability afforded by the bolt that threads in from the bottom, so you may have to do a little bracing or something if you are going to put much weight on it.  You might be able to get a longer bolt of the same diameter, I suppose.

I'm unaware of any other ready-made bars, but that certainly does not mean they don't exist.

The earlier models had a higher bar if I remember correctly.   I don't have nay left in 1 piece, but maybe some one with a 86-88 or 95-'00 could measure theirs and post it for you. I thin they all bolt in the same on the one that have a bar or passenger stop. Max

Don't you just hate it when your tape measure isn't where you put it.

Hmm... I checked over on BikePics... and from what I can SEE, they all look the same... From 86 on up.

My guess is that you'll have to do something custom.
