Paranoid in Portland

Ok guys I keep reading all these threads on the timing chain,I have 13,000 on my 02, I will be making a long trip soon (3000 miles) I don't have any strange noises,my bike runs better than it's ever run,it starts easy, runs great, fast enough to blow most cages at the light, and it looks great.
I change the oil every 500 miles (and filter) iridium spark plug,Jardene muffler,150 main,K&N filter, new tires.
I'm asking should I change the timing chain tentioner and the timing chain,or just the tentioner,or leave them both alone?
Like the old adage"if it ain't broke, don't fix it" or ?????

Here's another... you can pay me now or you can pay someone else later, cause I don't do engine rebuilds.

If you haven't looked at it, how do you know it ain't broke?

At 15,000 my tensioner was at "Max Allowable" extension. The cam chain, however, had some miles left according to the measurement. Someone has a graph/chart/ spreadsheet, hekkifino what its called, that shows diferent bikes mileage & the condition of the chain, tensioner, all that. I still have the chain & will run it one day, but its time to have a look in there.
