Forward Controls
08/01/08 at 12:20:38

Well with Ed L. here, I went ahead ahd got a set of 4 inch forward controls.  Ed and I, (mostly Ed) put them on and this is my first impression.

WOW...........

DidI say WOW?

Yep Wow.  Yesterday, I sat on a H-D sportster custom and with Ed's controls on and my seat lift, the position is identical.  I feel like I am sitting in a cage (car).  Legs are nicely stretched, but not orverly so.  With my feet and legs faerther out, it makes the positioning on my tailend more focused toward the rear of the seat.  Much more comfortable.  We went for a little ride (about 40 minutes) and I wasn't sore, butt-numb or anything..  very very nice.

No this isn't a paid endorsement...they really do mnake it a much morte comfortable bike to ride.  The only thing that has needed adjustment was the shift lever.  Because my foot angle was different, we had to raise the lever up a bit.  But it took all of 10 seconds to do.

Am I pleased?

You bet. Smiley

I also have EdL's controls, did the seat lift mod and agree, between the two are miles and miles of comfy riding. Weirdest thing about the forward controls is wind resistance. My toes pointed into the wind with original position now they point up somwhat. The wind pushes against the bottoms of my feet and I feel like I have to press my shoes into the pedals. Lately I've tried resting my heels on the pegs and find that works better.

I just put the forward controls on too, I laughed out loud first time I rode with them on. Can't wait to do a sportster seat conversion now.
I think that will complete the transformation!
Go ED L!!!! Thanks for the super fast shipping. Grin

After our ride this weekend, we all noticed a slight bend in my plates.  I Talked with Oldfeller and we came up with a mod of a mod.  I removed the frontmost bolt that goes through the footpegs and took a piece of 3/8" allthread 13 1/2 inches long and made a "bolt" out of the threaded rod.  Ran it through a 3/8 id metal pipe and tied the two footpegs together.  Tightened them down and WOW what a difference.  The two plated together act like they are much thicker...no flexing at all.  Also, I now have a place to hang a toolbag that I didn't before...or maybe an aux fuel tank...?????
