Well I just picked up a 1996 Savage a couple days ago. This is my third bike, and 3rd this season (I just started this year). My first bike was a Yamaha Seca II, which I loved but the seating position sucked and it got blown around too much on the road. I thought I was getting into the whole sportbike thing, so I sold the Seca and bought an FJ1200. The FJ was great, way too much power, kinda comfy, handled great and cut through the wind, but then it started to have a ton of problems.. 2nd gear went out, it started leaking gas all over, the speedo cable fell out, all that and more and I didn't have the dough to fix it... So I sold that. I decided that a cruiser style bike looked fun and more comfy, but my budget was small and I was focused more on economy and reliability. I found the ad for the Savage, researched them (thanks to you guys partly) and went to take a look. I couldn't believe how much of a good looking bike it was, especially for the price. It looks like a new big boy-expensive bike, minus one half of a big v twin. I took it for a ride and thought it was just a riot to rip around on. It's got custom grey sparkle paint, with Savage "Big Twin" decals. It's in amazing shape and 13k miles, needs nothing, windshield, etc. I'm 5'11 205, so I feel a little cramped on it, but it's still a relief from the crotch rocket style. The best thing of all, i got the bike for $1000! There is no way a better looking, or reliable bike out there for 1000 bucks! I'm still just pumped about this thing, and I intend to hold onto it. Even if i upgrade to a bigger bike someday this will make a perfect commuter/spare/wife's bike. I'll post some pics asap, but I'm just already proud to be a part of this community!
