No electricity from battery
07/23/08 at 11:47:34

Crud. I've got a problem and any insight would be helpful. A couple days ago I left the key on in my bike and the battery crapped out. I tried to jumper it but found it ridiculously difficult to jump so that didn't work. I just got my Big Crank battery in the mail, installed it and I cant even get any lights (even the green neutral light) to come on. It's like the whole electrical system is fried.  Anyone have any ideas what happened and how i can fix it?

I just had this problem on the FireLizard. Check your ground wires first, they may be loose.

My problem was the wiring harness was rubbed raw by the drive belt, but I am not suggesting that is your problem. Yours is probably just a loose ground wire.

just under the right side of the seat. In the pic below, look for the yellow fuses. If you have a stock seat, it may not be as visible.

mine died in the lane 1 day.  I saw the fuse box, but it looked like a relay because of the cover, I didn't think to open up the cover.  There are only 2 fuses in there.

Holy Huge Pic Batman!

The fuses are under the seat. You can see them sticking out in the above pic (yellow). You can access them with the seat on, but it may be easier with the seat off.

They are both 20 A's and there should be a spare in the tool box cover.

(I'm installing a Big Crank battery in my S40 today too, as soon as I get off work.... Ugh!)

Or a paper clip, or a hair clip, or a bobby pin.  Been there, used that... Wink

I've seen people use a spent .22 casing.
