bought a 02 savage a few weeks ago....finally have time from work to do some tinkering.....argghhhhh where is the oil drain plug....kickstand side 14mm........or is it the one behind the foot peg on the brake side......a picture would be nice..............thanks for any help....

depending on year 14mm for newer and 17 for older

kick stand side just rearward of the peg

place handle forward and push down.  

there's an owners manual here some place, good reading if you're completely lost.

thank you very much..............must get bike in top shape for inspection tomorrow....then dmv on sat an hope to get mc license again ........have not rode a street bike in like 19 yrs.......have allways had dirt bikes an a atv that i sold just so i could get back to riding street bikes.....well guess i'll break out the tools again b4 it gets dark out........thanks

just great.......the wingnut that owned the bike either used the power of odin himself to tighten that plug or he crossed it while putting it in either way it looks like i have a new mission.............argghhhh serenity now..................

Look in the tech section, and seach "drain plug", then select all posts. There are some good pictures in there. I believe Savage Greg posted a step by step on oil change.
You are correct, it is on the kickstand side, rear of the peg, and should be a 14mm. I found it actually easier to access from the exhaust side, reaching under the bike to the plug, rather than trying to do it from the kickstand side.

well today i get to screw with that freakin plug.....long day laying pavers fri..........could they have put the plug in a tighter spot........
