Just for kicks I had planned to write a letter to Suzuki Corporate with my wish list for the 25th anniversay S40 in 2011 (hopefully it's still around). If you all don't mind I'll use some of the ideas in this post as there are some really good ones.
PS: I for one don't want it any heavier. That's one of the reasons I went with a Savage.

I would like to see the spedo with a trip odometer up on the handle bars and the gas tank capacity increased.

move the peed odometer up to the handle bars, I don't like to take my eyes off the road to look at it, don't care for a trip meter I fill up on the hundreds so I always know were I'm at.

1) a trip Odometer
2) A Fuel economy kit that has a rear sprocket with 1 or 2 less teeth and a speedo raito changer the would screw onto the tranny so the same speedo could be used.
3) a larger fuel tank, same maybe 3.5 gals
4) a taller 5th gear, may solve #2
5) Maybe an electronic speedo
6) A factory Tachometer

Right-on T Mack 1... would add: slightly wider handlebars or longer mirror stems, easier spark plug access, hinged seat, and engine protector bars that really did something other than provide a mount for foot pegs.

I think the ONLY thing I would like Suzuki to change is put a fuel gauge on it. I'm too lazy to go by mileage

Your right, if it had a fuel gauge on the left, opposite the fuel cap it would be nice.

Trust me, Free Spirit. It will help. I never even look down at the factory speedo anymore, unless I'm driving at night. I use the computer exclusively.

Tubeless tires, even if they stay with spokes.Rasslin a stiff walled, tight seated rubber do-nut off that wheel is just a huge pain. I had to build a bead breaker for this Dunlop to let go. It is so stiff, I think I could have ridden it flat.
I would like a seat position that brings the feet under me enough that getting my butt outta the seat for a bump doesnt require that I do pull ups to haul myself up a couple inches. More ground clearance, so the pegs dont drag so easily. If they fix that stuff, Ill take care of the rest or live with it.

Slightly larger frame would have to do it for me. I know that's a lot to ask for, but inches larger here and there would make for so much more comfortable position.
6'3" and 180lbs.

Well they made an LS400 and an LS650 so I guess next in the progression would be an LS900. Sign me up for that baby.

Rumor has it that Suzuki will be discontinuing the S40/50 Cruisers in the very near future (I hope not, but ...) ... and I am very curious as to what they will be replaced with (if anything ...)?
The S40/Savage is near perfect as it is ... Suzuki Engineers could mine this website for some suggestions on "improvements" that could be implimented into the LS650v2!
Bar mounted speedo with tripmeter (and resulting extra fuel capacity with the speedo hole removed from the tank)
The cam chain adjuster mods that have been invented by Forum Members
Fuel Injection
Fork Brace

I'd love to have all the bolts etc replaced with higher quality ones. As I work on the bike I try to upgrade them as I go, but having good quality ones from the start would have saved me a lot of time, and frustration. I've had to drill quite a few out to get parts off for the first time.
