I enjoy my bike just the way it is, all of the mods I have in mind are just ways to make the personalization of my bike more fun for me.

I'd change the rider. He would be able to figure out how to carry more fuel for a little longer range without messing around with an already perfect bike....
I have the Leatherlyke saddlebags. I have a 1 gallon Blitz plastic gasoline container that is only 6" x 7.5" x 9" and fits inside the saddlebag with room for other road spares.

The seat! It sucks!
There are actually several good seat mods here somewhere.
I wish they were all in the tech section, easy to find!!
I still have a little problem finding things through the search
(Only can get 100 post and trust me,put in the word seat and there is probably over 1000 posts....LOL.Many do not like the original seat)
And so far that is the main thing I want to change!! Then get decent hwy bars and floorboards! That pretty much covers it. and the cash to do it

I've pretty much done all the physical changes I would want to have done except the seat. I am still running the stock seat, but I will be modding that after I get my engine issues taken care of.
By the way, most of the changes that are talked about can be done by the owner for little or no money.

I really wouldn't change anything. 100lbs more or 6" longer and it wouldn't be a Savage any longer. It would be another run of the mill, oversized gutless wonder of a mid-cruiser.
The stock seat is really not that bad. I like the riding position and the 2.8 gallon tank provides sufficient range-to-cramp factor. I need to stop and get the circulation going every 2 hours anyway so why not stop for gas while I'm at it?
If I had to pick ONE thing, I would like the frame stretched about 3" to provide better passenger room and a bit more leg-room for the rider.

Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

i would change the helmet lock, because its pretty much useless where its at with saddlebags and I don't like the design of it. I like the idea of using a gun lock instead.

Couple more inches in swing arm would give a long travel suspension more room on bike and would hold the road better at speed. And I think the bike would look better.

Wished it was about 50 lbs heavier.Front is very light compare to other bikes. Also geared higher should turn about 500 less rpm at 60mph.
Dumb question, but my point is to learn
Does adding weight to the bike(bags, etc) help the lightness of the front?
Or does the tkat help with that either?

I'd like the engine to be in ahigher state of tune and geared to reach about a 100 mph.
Here in Uk on longer trips involving dual carriageways / motorways cruising at 80 to 90 mph is common.
I like the savage it is real fun to ride, bouncy suspension on the back roads near me and puts a smile on my face. Swapping from my moto guzzi 1100 sport to the savage is sorta like getting out of a car and driving a go cart!
Anything involving more than 100 miles in a day and it's the guzzi though I'm afraid as the savage is to slow for longer runs.
The savage just needs another 10 to 15 hp to be a decent all rounder.
Anyone else have other bikes and still use a savage just because it's a hoot to ride?

My Savage is now officially my wife's bike and I've a SV650. I still ride the LS occasionally.
