Which aftermarket mirrors are best
07/01/08 at 05:36:05

I've been looking for a pair of good quality aftermarket mirrors that go with the lines of a Savage with OEM drag bars. I need to see what's behind me, so the shorter stemmed mirrors that look good, but only allow you a view of your shoulders, are not what I want. There are no local bike shops that carry custom accessories so I have to order from J&P, Dennis Kirk, etc., and it's almost impossible to judge from the photos what will work and what won't.

I've favouring the Stealth II mirror with a six inch stem but don't know if they provide enough height. I've read that some have found mirrors that fit but they vibrate so bad they are virtually useless.

Has anyone found a pair that they really like and consider good value for the money?

This is the kind I've gotten before and works well...

I didn't buy from these guys, but same type of mirror.  They worked well untill the ex backed over the bike.
Neither of the cheap billet mirrors on ebay are worth a dam.  Vibrate so bad makes a headlight look like a silver dollar.  I have 30" unweighted bars, so they are sensitive.

I bought those as well.  Metal, not plastic.  Look good and fit well, but I haven't had a chance to try them on the road yet.  Bought mine from JC Whitney.

Mine are like those too.  Very happy with them.  The convex lenses are an important factor in reducing vibration effects.

We seem to have a consensus going here. They really do look good.

I have those mirrors also.  The stems were way to short so I just used the stock ones.  I like them, think they look good.

I think there's a few models of this style.  On mine the end of the mirror extends beyond the end of the handlebar for excellent viewing behind.

verslagen1 - if you get a minute would you mind measuring the length of the stem on the horizontal (from the mounting point on the bar to the outboard position)? They come anywhere from 3 to 10 inches. I was thinking that 5+ inches would do but I'm not certain.
