2000 Savage Tank Decal Removal
06/29/08 at 19:25:39
Wondering if anyone has experience removing the decals from this year bike. I would like to remove them with out a re-paint if possible. Any input would be awesome. I know some of the years have a clear coat over them and im not sure if this has it, i had a cover on my bike last year and the wind (live on an island) blew the bike over and it messed up one side of the tanks decals and would like to just strip off both sides.
Thanks.

I have a 2000 and it does not appear to have clear coat but I haven't tried to take the Savage decal off personally.

To check for clearcoat, take your finger nail and move it across the decal edge. It it's a semi-smooth transistion it's got clearcoat. If it's an abrupt transition where the finger nail can actually catch, then no clearcoat .
I can tell you that my 2001 Savage logo on the tank has clearcoat.

my 2000 has the clear coat too. VERY annoying, i'd love to remove the decals.
has anyone figured out a way to dig out the decal without hurting the base paint?
