Corbin or Mustang for Sportster?
06/26/08 at 21:57:10
Since using a Sportster seat is relatively easy to do on a Savage I'm wondering about using a Mustang or Corbin seat for a Sportster on the Savage. Would there be any difficulties not present on using the stock Sportster seat? Has anyone here done it?

Been thinking about a Mustang seat too. Since they already make seats for other models of Suzuki, how bout we email them and perhaps they can clarify this for us.

I routinely e-mail these companies (at least twice a year) - Corbin, Mustang, Progessive Suspension, Vance & Hines, Cobra, etc. I just keep bothering them hoping one day someone may take an interest in the Savage and pump out a product or two. I've urged others on the forum to do the same but have no idea if they did or not.
Sometimes I get an e-mail response from the company saying sorry you're out of luck, but most of the time nothing. Still it can't hurt to contact them. With the number of members here I'm sure with a collaberated effort we could generate some movement of at least one manufacture.

Why don't you start a petition and see if you can get everybody on the site to sign it? Maybe that would get their attention.

I e-mailed Mustang and they said nothing is in the works for us.
I'm sure that if we (like... 25 of us) would go to them with ORDERS and cash in hand, they might change their mind.

Since I am a member of the AMA I was actually thinking of doing a write up on the Savage/S40 and try to submit it to the American Motorcyclist Magazine. I was thinking of calling the article
The Savage/S40 a shade tree Customizer's Dream.
I was going to describe how the after market industry has pretty much ignored this very versatile bike and how any after market parts pretty much had to be made by the owners.
Of course I was also going to describe all of the pros of this bike and so on.
I figure maybe some of the after market companies may get the hint if AMA would publish it in it's magazine.
What do ya'll think? Should I go ahead and do it?

Back to the original question. Any reason a Corbin for an 04 Sportster wouldn't fit? Mustang's touring seat is a 2 piece so I don't think it would work.

I imagine something larger than a 25 seat order would be needed to get one of these manufacturers to design, tool up and build a seat for a Savage. R&D costs money and 25 seats ain't gonna cover it.

My guess would be if its a one piece seatpan like the 04 and up sporty seats we are using now that it shouldn't be any more difficult to fit on the savage than it is now.
