Ok I now have my new solo seat mounted (well at least mocked it up).

I decided to hard mount the seat as it just looked like it sat too high with the springs. So we'll see how she rides with the rigid struts once Denim has made them. If its to rough I guess I might just shorten the shocks.

I also made a metal plate to cover the ugly wiring under the seat.

Here's a couple of pics of the bike so far :

Any ideas/suggestions welcome  Wink

nice work..  you can add the springs to the front of the seat.  the sheetmetal and airbox will support it.

also if you add matching rear pegs it give's you an alternate seating position.  more like a sport bike ride.  i use them alot on long hauls.

while it's a violation in my state, i just love the one mirror look, it says.

i just says DILLIGAF.

Yeah Sluggo I dig your front spring setup on your seat. We'll see how she rides once I mount the hardtail struts but it probably won't be to much different as I have the springs set at the hardest setting right now.

The one mirror thing is legal here in Utah in fact no turn signals, no helmets, lound pipes are also legal here. But I choose to keep the turn signals as I tried without them and it just seemed like more of a hassle giving hand signals than flicking a switch.

DGAF all the way  Grin

I actually made the side mount plate myself out of some sheet metal and the tailight was just from a local auto shop. I just traced the shape I wanted onto the sheet metal and used a grinder to cut the shape and then just bent the tab to mount it on the shock. I think total cost was around $20.00. If anyone wants the red tailight I will sell it as I have actually changed the tailight now to this one :

Ever thought of making it and sell it in here for profit.I'll send u $50 including tailight for u to make one custom for me.

Blacksheep,

Never really given it any thought before but seriously I'm no professional man but if you really want one I could make one for you but I definately wouldn't charge you $50. PM me and we'll talk some more.
I also have made one previously with just the tag light instead of the tailight.

Ok here goes:
Trailer fender(heavy gauge steel)Northern tool pt#1264(I think) will double check.7"wide coveres the 150 good.
Rear tire probably 160.I had a 150 with the belt, but it was getting a little wide for the rim.
Spring seat,3" springs Drag specialties pt#DS902011 2 reqd.
If you get a mount kit The one part bolts right to the original tank/seat mount bolts.pt#DS902014 it's called a universal front seat bracket.
The bracket that bolts to that, the one the seat actually bolts to is pt#DS902013 universal seat bracketwith square end for HD models.
I had to make the bracket to mount the springs to the frame, but it bolts to the spot the fender bolts go through the frame.
I'll get some pics tomorrow just picked up another '87...going bobber Grin

Where did you acquire this speckled paint? Can local auto paint shops duplicate it? I was thinking of bringing the duplicolor speckled paint and having them color match. You think this would work?

Ok I received the fender and hardtail struts today from Demin and I gotta say he did a freakin fantastic job on both of them.

Big props to you Demin  Smiley

Here are a couple of pics with the hardtail struts mounted.
I will post some mock up pics of the fender mounted later tonight.

Also I was messing around with a checkerboard stripe on my tank, so I need opinions - no checkerboard, fat checkerboard or thin checkerboard on the tank (see pics)

Ah, the joys of a 1/2" clearance that only a hardtail setup can bring. Nice work.  THat flat fender is lookin' good.

I'm gonna say pass on the checkerboard entirely. Bob jobs to me mean one of three paint schemes, flat, scalops, or metalflake. But thats just my 2 cents.

Keep up the great work.
