Mine (-06) also whines during deceleration, but it does it on all gears. The whining disappears when I press the clutch, so it's related to engine breaking somehow.
Anyone got any ideas? Could it be the belt tension for me too?  Undecided

I used a 1" peice of rubber vacuum hose--slight gap, buzzing gone. Will do the proper mod probably this winter. { when I tear it down for that pesky oil plug leak }

Same here on an 07...been whinin ever since i got it at 0 miles...2650 later i started thinkin its cause the bike's mad at me for slowing back down   Wink

Had old oil in mine, no whine.. changed it and voila'.. the whine is back. hmmm. what to do? EARPLUGS! That'll do it! Wink
