I don't know what year you have, but my wife's is a 2003 and the decal is UNDER the clear-coat.  So, at least on some years, you can not remove the decal without first removing the clear-coat.  So plan on re-clearing if not re-painting your tank when you're finished.

if you get one with the "badges", they just peel off... it ain't easy and usually they break too, so no re-use em.

Are yo talking about the sticker on the lower edge of the tank with the safety reminder on it? If so w hair dryer or allowing the bike to sit in the sun for an hour will soften the adhesive so it will carefully peel off. If you are talking about the emblems on the side of the tank, they are under the clear coat and there are discussions on that process in the tech section I think. Max

There's a a thread in the tech section that deals specifically with removing badges and stickers.

most will ease up with a little warm and wd40 - man I've never seen one on a boat or bike that was under the clear coat - that would be tough - and who ever did it should be knocked in the khead

Thanks all, I used the wd40 and hair dryer method. Took a while but it removed the warning sticker without trouble.
