A common dilemma -- my first solution was to use a pair of 2x8s to ramp the bike into the bed of my Chevy S10.  Drawbacks include the scariness of offloading and necessity to remove camper shell.  

So last week I bought one of theose 'cradle' carriers that fit into a Class III receiver ($100, Craigslist).   This particular one has a 500 lb capacity, so the Savage is OK.  Haven't taken it on a trip yet, but will post fotos and report back.
