The little tube may be for wiring only going through the tank -BUT- let me tell you, when I was setting at the pumps waiting for my neighbor to bring me a gas can, it was definitely gasoline running down the sleeve of my leather jacket on the arm that had the finger over the bottom of that tube. When you don't put a Harley gas gauge in there (won't work/expensive) the top end of that tube is NOT sealed anymore. Your mileage may differ, but mine ran out all over the parking lot and didn't start until I was about 2/3 full.

There are some medium priced and pretty gas cap options out there if you look hard enough. I liked the airplane type with the pop-up cap and the circular plate that screws to the tank. And if you're looking at the Harley more stock type caps they make a dummy cap for the non-filler side to give you that paired look. It was still more than I wanted to spend but the generics are way cheaper than the Hawg hardware.

And to the fella who wants more miles, don't forget the option of on aux tour tank for the back. Since my sig-oth doesn't want to ride with me I don't need the comfort of the backrest much so my tour tank mounting brackets are bolted through the sissy bar. You can take if off for around town and use it for long trips. If you have a back luggage rack you're 90% done. Just don't forget to put an inline cut-off valve because, if both tanks are full, the back one will gravity feed into the front one and soak your right leg. Gas stings especially in the summer sun.

Ordered the rest of the stuff to install the Road King tank. IE: petcock, petcock adapter, fuel cap and dummy cap, and just for the heck of it, a set of 1 inch 10 inch mini apes.

Harley parts guy I deal with said parts should be in in 7 to 10 days. Once all parts are in the real fun will begin.

Will do my best to provide pics and written instructions.

Getting closer to being able to install the Road King tank, sanded and bondoed the dents. (I really suck at bondoing) and just shot it with primer. Just waiting for the petcock adapter and I'll be in business.

Having a dickins of finding information about the luggage rack until I found this thread.

On the above photo, does the luggage rack include the sissy bar?

If not, what should I order to be able to mount luggage other than saddle bags on the  2005 Boulevard S40 ?

Thanks so much.
