Canīt start the bike..
04/26/08 at 11:44:18

Hi everybody.

Just done with the mods on my bike, Assembled everything, and now it wont run.  :'(
Iīve connected the entire electrical system as it was, except for the tail-light and all the blinkers. Iīve removed all the lights except for the front.
I got a savage -93
The funny thing is i connected the battery, turned the ignition key and i got nothing, Absolutely nothing i mean, no light the startermotor didnīt even make a noise, absolutely nothing.. (This is my first savage so if i sound stupid when i ask questions, itīs just because I havenīt learned it yet.)
1. Is there something you should do to start the bikes. Like holding the clutch or maybe let the side stand up? Like if there is a hidden kill switch somewhere?
2. does anyone know if the 93 has the same electrical system as the 95?
3. If anyone got any ideas about this please let me know..

Thanks Robin..

What mods did you do?
Make sure 1)cutoff switch-on
               2)neutral
               3)clutch squeezed in
               4)sidestand up
If you did anything under the gas tank make sure plugs are connected all the way.Main fuse under right side of front seat.

I made a whole new intake, broke down the stearing head and put a new bracket for motorcross, removed the entire back of the bike, cut away a lot of bracketholders. a new box for the electronics. and more.. I am going to post some picture later on.

Goin out to try your ideas now,

Tried it now, the plugs are all connected, MAin fuse is not there anymore it has been moved because i built a new seat. Shouldnīt be any problems there though...
The problems is that there is absolutely no life at all.. No lights that come on, no sound nothing.. Itīs like you havent even put the battery in and you have no power at all.. the battery should be working. I havenīt run the bike since october last year so maybe it is out of power. going to buy a new one tomorrow.. But we tried it with jumper-cables and even then the bike wouldnīt start or even make a single try to be alive.. But, I got to tear it down tomorrow again and look everything over again..

Thankful for every tip i Get
...

Thats not a stupid question, The electrical mods iīve did is taking the stock eleöctrical system, and the only thing i did to it was to remove the blinkers and the rear light everything else is connected and installed, But it has been moved to a new box on the bike, but that shouldnīt be any problem or? The ignitor is connected as it should be, but still nothing.. Even if the starter wouldnīt go, at least the light or neutral light would shine or?..

Iīm not gonna sleep until i Find out..

Check your ground from the battery to the engine case.

Then I'd follow positive from the battery to all things not working.

And operate the switches to check function.

The starter should only be a couple of ohms to ground, but don't check ohm's with battery connected.

And you can disable the safeties, neutral, clutch and kickstand.  clutch and kickstand safeties you just need to short the leads for the switches, I'm not sure how the neutral goes.  Neutral safety is also routed to the indicator light in speedo.

There is a second ground Black w/white strip, moderately thin wire.   It runs most evrything, lights ign etc etc.   The book shows a connector on it.....

There is a ground running from the engine to the frame and is located to the rear of the oil sight glass check to see if it is good. Beside that try bypassing the kickstand safety switch an clutch safety switch (clutch in when starting) if you haven't already done so. It's probably something simple so start with the easy stuff.

I know you moved the fuse box, but did you actually peek at the fuses? This just happened to me today f`n around with lite swaps. A short [easy to do!] would kill the fuse, and that`ll stop ya cold.
