Need info for shop carb work
04/15/08 at 09:54:14

Carb gas leak is going to be repaired in a small shop by a very experienced (35 years) certified motorcycle mechanic.

I'm going to have him uncover the idle screw and shave the white spacer (1/2?) while the carb is apart. Does this sound OK?

Anything else I should consider?

I have a stock airbox and exhaust.

Thanks in advance

Option on the spacer is to replace it with washers equal to 1/2  the spacer so that you can "go back".

It's a bit quicker too, so the shop may like that idea better.

Have him look at the needle valve, that is probably the culprit of the gas leak.  Outside of that and the standard cleaning you should be all set.  May want to look at the O and E rings and replace them if they have little cracks.
