Theres sposed to be a crush washer in there. Its gonna be a wrinkled up, aluminum colored donut, goes in the head, then the header pipe goes in & crushes it into the gap between head & header pipe. If there is nothing in there, its spitting fire  like a AA fueler & backfiring like a gatling gun.
