I made it to AZ
04/09/08 at 20:18:24

hey all

I rode my ls650 to AZ! I took about 10 days to get there from Maine. Not one day of rain. A bit windy, and the floods going across the  Mississippi river was cool! Sodona was a neat ride! Some way Curvy roads and lots of hills .

When I left Maine my friends hair froze when she steped out side, and when she went to Brush her hair she was making snow.   I had a stop about every hour to warm up.   Sometimes it's a good thing the tank can hold only so much.  I've pretty much took 40 across the United States .  With some side trips .  I only spent about  135 Dollars in gas .  Most the time I was going About 55 to 65miles an hour . O and alot of the time I went above 65 to 75 + to get around the 18 wheelers.  Not including the tolls .  I did my own oil changes along the way I ended up using Amsoil. It did just fine.a sometime I'll try to post some pictures of the trip .

I wore  a bright orange flagers vest with reflective stripes to increase my visibility.   and so that my girlfriend could see me .

LS 650  did just fine! she had no problems at 6000 plus to 4000 feet in elevation for a couple of days of riding.

And going throu Texas I went 65 to 70 all the way, I  hightailed it are there flat long lot of cows , random cows .

When I would stop for gas or at a rest stop to take a break I had a lot of people coming over to look at my bike and ask,hey man what kind of bike is that?  I simply gave it a laught and said all this is my 650 single Suzuki .  And walked away .

Why don't you come to LA so you can say you went coast to coast?

See? Thats just the kind of post we need to change the minds of the LS650 detractors.  According to most of them, the bike won't make it up any kind of hill without the rider getting off to push.

Well done!  Well done indeed!

I ride everyday...60+ miles.  I go over a mountain each and have NO problem on the Thumper.  I am planning on going to Boone over the weekend and there is a long climb (several miles worth).  I don't understand why there are some people that put the LS650 down...It is a great bike...it ain't a Harley...that's all...

Great to hear of your trip!!!!...you gonna ride back too?   Grin Cheesy

lol not till i'm done school .  Then I will make a trip back on the same bike .

Just to let you all know I did on the stock seat that the biking come with.

I'll just say 12 hours not a good idea .  6 To 8 Hours just fine .  I normally would not ride twelve hours but my girlfriend wanted to stop in Greenville South Carolina to visit her sister .

And if you make it to the southern part of California:

http://www.rock-store.com/

And when you get there, pull up in front of the biggest bunch of chrome cruisers and ask "Where's the parking for out of state bikes?"

Alternately, just ask if there's a lobster omlette on the menu.

Congrats on a great ride!
