Looks nice.  How secure are the locks/latches?

-Matt

P.S. I also like the idea of self-contained turn signals.

the locks are okay I guess. Like I said, the quality of the bags themselves aren't the greatest. They look great but not very thick fiberglass. I'm more concerned with the door hinges, They look pretty cheap.

Love the look of those bags and I've been researching them on the website.  I'm a little confused about how they open?  Is it from the side or from the top, or both?  I've been thinking about making a full-dresser out of my bike.... putting those hard saddlebags on and then a hard trunk/backreset on top of them.  But if they only open from the top then that idea is pretty much shot.

Has anyone made a full-dresser out of their bike similar to that?

I like to put Al's saddlebags on:
http://www.mutazu.com/products.php?cat_id=7&menu=Hard%20Saddlebags&product_id...
And then put this over the passenger seat:
http://www.mutazu.com/products.php?cat_id=2&menu=DB%20Trunk%20Series&product_...

Can't believe the whole thing would be under $300--theoritically.

The ones i have only open from the side. The hinge is on the bottom of the door. After using them for a little while, I really like em. The turn signals are pretty bright. Mounting them was kinda tricky but they are solid. The only thing I would worry about is if you drop the bike, the bag will be junk. But i don't plan on dropping the bike.

I really like your hard bags. I just ordered a set of soft ones along with a K&N replacement for the OEM air filter on my thumper. I'll get some pictures up when I get them installed. I just had my first crash on my thumper the other day. No bones broke, but may be some cuff or ligament damage. I got to the orthopedist on Monday.

Great looking bags.  Being able to remove the rear turn signals really increased available storage space.

Are they water proof?  Use the bike for daily communiting and no one seems able to predict the weather in Wisconsin.

I haven't had them out in the weather yet but htey look like they would be waterproof. I usually put everything in a plastic bag anyways.

I'm thinking of getting these bags....

What in your opinion makes them cheap as you describe ?

Have you had a change to check if they are water proof ?

They do look awesome on your bike Smiley

What makes them cheap in my opinion, is the locking mechanism is quite flimsy, and the thickness of the fiberglass. If you lay your bike down(even at a stand-still) the bag would be crushed. But I don't  "plan" on laying it down. I think they look really good though.
I haven't had them out in the rain yet, so no info about waterproofness.

Those look great!
So great that I decided to order some and they finally arrived.
I just wanted something that closed from top.
They way I am they will be filled with small junk and opening
on side would dump it all out.

Could you please tell me how did you secure those bags?
I got FY set and mounting rails and those things are 5mm thick (rails)!
Did you mount them on inside of fender or top of the fender rails?
Their instructions suggest top of the rails but that looks ugly
and also S40 has no screw on top of the rail in the back.
It seems that screw that is on back of the fender rail by signals is too
high for those rails to be used without some adjustments.
Front fender rail screws seem to be too close to shocks...
I am sure I can figure it out eventually but if you have advice I
sure can use it. I did not try to do it yet but will soon.

Also my bags have two holes for securing to rails and instructions
are mentioning drilling holes too. How many holes did you drill/secure?

Thanks! Smiley

I mounted them using the most forward fender rail bolt, and the hole where the rear turn signal used to be. I had to drill a hole in the fender for the rear mounting screw. The shocks didn't really get in the way. I have a couple pics of where i mounted them but the pics aren't the best.
