kick starter?

So this might be a dumb question but is there anyway to put a kickstarter on a savage engine?  Keep in mind I know nothing about the engine or how a kickstart works.

Simple answer: NO

Long answer, If you have tons of money, YES.

Requires figuring out which shaft/gears in the engine/tranny combo can be used.  Then, have a new sidecover designed to accommodate some way to engage the kicker but still free-wheel the internal workings when the engine is running. Then finding some-one to machine said pieces and someone to make (mold & machine) the sidecase.   Then, the easy part,  turning the decompression system into a manual one (remove solenoid and put thumb lever on bars?) .

Cost would be outrageous on the internal components & sidecase design and fab work, so the simple answer is NO......

HA! yeah, that's what I thought.  Funny thoughts run through ones mind when they are trying to start their non-starting bike.

i had an ole gn400  with kick start.  it ran on mag i never ran battery just kick and go.  i turned ignition on pulled key and just left it that way.  i knew no one could figgure out the stating sequence and never had a problem.  i can't count the time's ii've left the key on now. so much i've come up with a jumper cable system.  have had to use it a couple of times. at that point i  stand there holding the cables someone always helps.   yeah  i sure would like a kick start onthis one.

I too wish the Savage had a kickstart backup. I hate depending on a battery. Even if a battery is low and won't turn the starter, it usualy has enough juice to fire up with a kicker.Out of the 7 bikes I own, only 2 are not kickers, the Savage and the 120hp custom I built. I wouldn't even bother trying to kick the 120hp bike over with my 150lb butt. I think it would look good with a kicker pedal on the Savage. I guess I am just old fashioned.   Hutch

Showehorn a DR650, 750 or 800cc engine in the frame, and you have kickstart Cool
