Yeah,me too.I forced myself to do it.Perfect weekend, and not working.I did some other stuff to it too,but I didn't like the results. So I took them back off.BIG difference.I could have gone 5"or even 6" but then they would be sticking out by the tire.I am happy with the 4" though.
Here is kind of a side by side comparison.

Nice.  If I weren't a hobbit, I would go for a set of those.  Is that an oil temp gauge on the head cover of the purple Savage?

Nope.Speedo just don't have the cable on it.
I think I'm going to paint/powder coat them black. They look added on,I want them to look like factory brackets.

Ah, now that I look more closely at it, I see that is an aftermarket tank with an interesting petcock setup.

I think they would look better if they were polished/painted.

Guess what I noticed a couple of days ago?? My bike has extended forward controls! I've been reading the posts on the forward controls, and realized that they looked like what was already on my bike. So, I started looking at the pics of bikes without the extensions. I like the controls where they are, it's a great fit for me. I'm gonna have to measure them just to see how much more leg room they give me. Just thought I'd share.

Here's pics of my bike the 1st day I got it!!

Firelizard belongs to YonuhAdisi(think that's how it's spelled).I could use extensions like that first one,but they just stick out too far.
