Rear fender

Hi im yet another newbie at the moment im riding a 1988 xv250 but about to buy a 1988 savage however the guy who owns the bike at the moment has butchered the rear fender so ive had a quick look through your forum to find out what other fenders will fit.

I see someone mentioned a rear fender off a shadow will fit any idea what size/year or does anyone have an old stock fender for sale or any idea where i can get a fender to fit preferably without too much messing around as im useless at manual things like that.

If your not up to re-fitting a fender from another bike, your might want to stalk ebay for an exact parts match.

Re-fitting any non-oem part to the Savage is more than likely going to lead to some unplanned bending, dirlling and head scratching. Look around the site, and pay close attention to the photos of the bobbers. These are exceptionaly good examples of how to coax a rear fender from who knows where to fit on the tail of a Savage.  They make it look easy, but it does require skill, determination, and lots of manual labor. The results are awesom.

I've seen cut Savage fenders, HD Fenders and even cargo trailer fenders fit to the Savage.

Keep in mind that the rear tire is on a swing arm, and needs room to move without hitting the fender. A fender can be too short, or two narrow. If the tire scrapes, you run the risk of a blow out.

Measure twice...

i plan on mounting my fender  to the swingarm so i can have it hug the tire without worrying about scrapes.
