V Star 650 twin vs. Boulevard 1800 twin vs. LS650

Just got back from a ride with a friend and a new acquaintance. My friend has a 07 Boulevard 1800 and the new acquaintance has a Yamaha V-Star 650.

We all went riding around basically just whipping through and literally around town for over an hour. Both V twin guys were very impressed with the FireLizard, they said it even sounded meaner than their bikes. (of course I have a jardine on it and their exhaust is stock) They were very impressed with my giddy up go and though the V-star owner believes the speed limit is just a suggestion, he could not pull away from me for very long before the FireLizard caught back up to him.

So far it has been the most fun I have had on the FireLizard, it will DEFINITELY keep up with the bigger boys out there. Cool

When they say it will do a 100 mph.... (stock vehicle)
A Japan made vehicle: when tune-up, no head wind, on level ground and a light drvier/rider.
A USA made vehicle: when tuned up and maybe on level ground.
A German made vehicle: anytime......

You can go up to 175 otherwise, but I wouldn't recommend the freefall, it's the sudden stop that bothers me.

OMG, the Savage is so fast, I once outrun a Hayabusa going the other direction. This thing has so much torque I pulled out a stuck tractor. I did'nt buy this thing for speed, I just bought it to cruise, but I like to drive as fast as I can on everything, all the time, and no one can pass me because this thing is a rocket. The only thing torqueier than a single is a zero.There is no way a 1300cc inline four has this much torque. Those things go from 0-100 in under 6 sec on nothing but HP.Why don't racers use these things, omg. This thing is'nt made for stopies, but does them so well. I'm going to Bonneville to show em all up.

Why do you think that Grand Prix racing post WWII was largely based on single cylinder motorcycles ?- The heritage of the Norton Manx, BSA Gold Star Panther and Ariel Red Hunter to name a few still comes through on the Savage

Maybe I am beginning to get older and wiser, but 75 maybe 80 is fast enough when you only have around 360 pounds under you. I hang with the large cruisers on the interstate around 70-75. The fastest I have had it was a reading of 80 for around 50 miles during a Highway Patrol escort. At 80, it felt like it wasn't even on the road, I felt a pretty good amount of drift. It is in it's high end of a comfort zone at around 70.
