02/19/08 at 15:05:21

Why are batteries for the savage so hard to find? I looked every that carries motorcycle batteries and no one had them.  I finally had to have a gear place order one. My husband can buy a battery for his at walmart but not me???

The vent is on the other side from most batterys, that is the problem.  Get a sealed battery, no vent. Problem solved. Way better battery too.

Mine cost about $50 at Batterys Plus.

My battery fried itself the other day. Can get a standard battery in stock at our local CycleGear store for $39. Batteries Plus quoted an instock gel battery for $65. Going tomorrow to check it out. Gel batteries are the best way to go by far. No maintenance, no trickle charging to keep it alive etc.

just got a Big Crank.  Even the connections are massively superior to the $80 battery I got at the stealership.

I have an 04 savage.  I was looking at batteries at big crank.  They say for All Savages but it has (86-2002) near it.  Am I safe buying this one for my 04?

I just put one in my 96 and had to flatten one side of = & -  cable lug. They come with an adapter but I didn't try seeing how they work. Max

Scan thru the posts, there's one that was an '06
The vent tube is no longer necessary.
And you need to mod the cable ends a bit.  The ends have bent down tabs that keep the cable from rotating.  And the rubber boot doesn't fit very well.
