Urgent information needed - bolt/nut size
02/02/08 at 07:33:16
Can anyone tell me EXACTLY what thread size is for the long bolt that goes through the engine/frame at the front please? The bolt is part number 21 on this fiche (Suzuli part no. 0910410034)
http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-ls650-1994-pr_model13825/partslist/FIG-03.html
.
I need the information for another bike that I am working on (an old CB 450 nighthawk) as I need to helicoil a stripped thread and I know they have the same the same size thread.
Thanks in advance...

Sorry, I would have to tear the bike apart to get the info,
but
, I suggest going to the local Auto-parts store with the offending bolt and they can measure it for you.
Then, buy a thread gauge and Metric tap & Die set when you can. I got mine from Sears (Craftsman). Wasn't sure if I would ever get my money out of it. Boy, I was wrong, I use it sooo much, one of my better investments. First was the Honda SL70, then the CL175, then the CM250C...plus all the house hold things that use the metric bolts.

Thanks for the response but its 4pm on saturday afternoon here (UK) - the auto parts shops close at 12.00 and don't open on Sunday. I have a tap and die set but none of the ones in my kit is the right size I can order what I need over the net if I can get the information - otherwise its a couple more days wait.

Ordering over the net is still a "wait" for it to ship and then to get there. Still would be faster to get local help, even if it's Monday.
Sounds like it maybe time to run to the Pub for a pint. Saturday evening, the lorry's won't be moving till Monday anyway....

Just came back into the house with the size, but see you've got it already!
