Strange Smell

The last two times I rode my 06 S40, I smelled a strange smell when I turned it off after about 6-7 miles. It smelled like it came from the engine or the pipe. I Just waxed the chrome which included the chrome covers on the engine. If I had forgot some of the wax, would it give off a smell when it got hot? The second time, it didn't seem to smell as bad. I checked the oil, it is at the correct level. It does not smell like any wiring, or oil, I know what that smells like. If the belt is rubbing on the front sprocket, would that be a possibility? It runs great as it always has, and there are no odd noises.
Any suggestions?

hey.... isn't the exhaust pipe chrome? Doesn't it get hot enough to melt plastic Shocked

I tend to lean to the wax because goes away a little each time I run it. Thanks to all who responded
