I have the 1st gen. I still get saddle sore in an hour or so. Been meaning to try Greg's removing center rubber bumper trick.
Then again, for long hauls I take the PC800, so the 650 just is used for local short trips.

The pillow top looks better!

Heck, it looks so good that Harley imitated it!

I bought a gel seat pad from JP Cycle a few years ago. Not cheap but about half the price of replacing the whole seat. I like it. It's none skid on one side and sheep skin on the other side

Cons are it sits you up about an inch higher and someone could easily walk off with it

Pros are it helps alot on a long trip and it's warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

We went on a pretty long weekend ride last summer and I could really tell the difference.

I switched my stock seat for gel and was highly unimpresssed with the results.

I purchased an Air Hawk seat pad - slapped that on and suddenly I love the seat!

I just do not think that a Gel seat or seat pad does enough to cushion the stock Suzuki seat.

I just have been a fan of the Air Hawk for three years now. There is a review at

For the airhawk, here is how I used one.  Other seat ideas are in the threads as well.

Here is how I did it:
LINK Seat mod using AirHawk

and the follow up:

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

The one on my Suzuki is the pillow top gel seat from Suzuki -- I got it from Oneida Suzuki by mail order.

As for the Harley seat -- BTSOOM!

(BTSOOM -- sounds like an Arabic word, but it's really Beats The Ship Out Of Me!)
