I tried a search, but nothing came up to satisfy my question....

Why does the exhaust pipe discolor, bule/gold?  Huh

Never heard of it! Cheesy Joking . . .

It apparently has to do with the stock lean mixture settings.  Make sure you change the drop-down in the search panel to include all posts.  It comes up as "one week" by default.  Anyway, here is one of many threads on your question:

To let other motorcyclists know that you've been riding your bike, not just polishing the chrome!

Some might disagree, but IMO blue is lean, gold is rich.

Mine didn't blue till I was listening to the valves, running it up & letting off several times. I guess I got about 2,500 miles on it before  I blued it.

The dis-coloring of the pipe is a temp thing.  Hot cause color change.  Lean is hot.

Have you done any carb tuning on the bike?
