I want to lessen the weight of my bike?  What can I remove from my bike that wouldn’t compromise my safety…too much Wink?

Rear fender mounts and sissy bar - just removed mine and was surprised at how heavy. But in %age terms not significant!
Silencer. Change rims to alloy. Air filter set up. Flashers. Mirrors. GRP fenders for steel.
It's a very light bike for cc and proportions as it comes!

Lighten the rider!  That's what I've done.  Dropped twenty pounds from my peak, now I've got about ten pounds to go, maybe fifteen.

Lose the rear fender, rails, pillion, sissybar, stock muffler, belt guard, rear pegs.  Add a fiberglass rear fender, lights & plate on the fender or swingarm, and a lightweight muffler such as a MAC.  Rather than compromise safety you enhance it due to lighter weight.

I am down 15 "very hard to loose" pounds, it is the first time in over 10 years that I have been under 200.  The scale just barely tilts under the 200 mark but it does go under.  My goal is 165, and now that my body is finally on a loosing mode I think I can get it to the goal weight by summer time.

I've always wanted to reach 140 lbs. Never have, so the Savage is carrying 130 and probably not much need to reduce the weight of the bike!
We are all different.

Something weird to ponder- when I started riding the Savage, I lost weight. In three weeks, I dropped 15 pounds. Maybe it was that I was no longer drinking Dr Pepper and eating gas station hot dogs during my daily commute. Maybe the ol' metabolism increased along with the flow of adrenaline every time I threw a leg over the saddle and ventured into Atlanta traffic.

I don't know, but man, it felt good.

And since the bike has been down?

Porked right back up again...

I really wished the bike was about 50 pounds heavier. Then it would feel better to me.

This weight thing is a problem, especially for the rider.  I've gained almost 1 pound per year since high school.  Unlike the savage, I don't have any appendages I 'm willing to remove Grin, or replace with lightweight versions.   Hopefully all this now shovelling will help.  If any of you sucessfull weight loss leaders want to shar secrets...

The rules to personal weight-loss are simple:

Rule #1 - lay off the "sauce"

O.k.  Now that 90% of us are eliminated...

Drink 1oz of water for every two lbs of body weight per day (no pop/soda), replace your junk-food with fruit and fresh veggies for snacks, and don't eat after 6 pm.

Get 30 min. of aerobic exercise 3x/week, and you're there....given time.

Did I say simple?  Yes!  Did I say easy?  Absolutely not!  Proven?  Yes.

If it came in a pill, everybody would have it.   Grin
