What an excellent Forum!

Thanks to specific advice and the cumulated wisdom of the Tech Notes etc, I have 1. restored my lights 2. fitted new plug and 3. modded cover plate for easier future access. Now this may not sound much to the mechanically-minded amongst us, but I view is as quite an achievement. It even all went back together!!!

Tank removal was easier than I expected (perhaps being 18 years old the bits have been stretched and pulled out of shape over time into the "right" shape!).

Thanks folks.

That is the whole idea of this forum. Knowledge should be passed on to make things easier for others, not hoarded like money.       Hutch

You know Sluggo, I remember one of the members saying something about making money off the chain conversion right after I figured it out. Can't remember who it was though. Could that be the person? If not I apologize.  Whoever it is that ripped us off has to live with it. His problem not ours.    Hutch

I would have no problem with that,  some day I may cause it'll have 100,000 smiles on it and I'll be ready for another.   Grin

Fair enough verslagen1.  I guess I can agree to that.  I hope they keep making the S40 for years to come.  It's unique and a great bargain compared to the others.  I don't see any direct competitors.  I've wondered who else makes a big single these days.  Is there anybody?  Clearly none of the other big 4 Japanese companies do.

Careful Mac - there are several 650 class singles- Buell makes a 500 cc single, BMW have a series of bikes of 650 single capacity, and there are machine like the Honda Transalp that are still sold in other parts of the world but not available in North America. Aprillia may have a 650 singe in the works - and I suspect the Brits are watching that area too
