I think it turns the other way---as in righty loosey, but you`d best check the manual.

I think it is a lefty-loosey. Follow the Clymer's manual. Make sure you are doing this before you pull the rear wheel and belt. Also, the rear wheel needs to be on the ground for traction.

I used a long torque wrench to loosen. You might get some help, someone to sit on the bike while you loosen. Mine was stiff but came loose fairly easy.

Depends on your sprockets and chain type. Mine "touches" the tab every now and then when I get on the gas.

Gary,
I'm also using a long torque wrench.
Maybe I'll just call it a day and try again tomorrow, I'm really frustrated right now, it seems some stupid little nut or screw always slows me down. ARRRGGGHHH
???

38 inches... The nut sees that coming and will spin off on it's own
(Actually, I only needed that to get the drive gear/old cam chain off)

Did you pound down the nut tab? It holds the nut in place and keeps it from spinning...

Yeah I flattened out the washer tab, but I'll check again tomorrow in case there is some part still not flattened out enough. Thanks

Maybe try some liquid wrench or something and let it sit to loosen it. (I guess it's ok to use here?) Probably has a ton of locktite on it or something.
