Technically speaking, they are called the Damper Rod Securing Bolt, in the manual...you do have a manual, right?
That is essentially what holds your fork together.
BTW - Most older bikes actually had a small screw for draining the fork oil. Some new ones like BMW still do.
To get to these 8 MM hex wrench allen head bolts, you still have to remove the wheel too. They are above the axle bolt in the bottom...
To do it right, I would still buy a 6 pack and remove the forks
