New fork oil thread

After having read several threads on changing fork seals, it seems the easiest way anyone has discussed about simply changing fluid is as follows:

Pick up front of bike
Remove front wheel
Loosen/remove fork oil drain hex heads
Replace fork oil drain plugs
Remove top of fork cap
Refill fluid
Replace fork cap
Replace wheel
Put front of bike down

Is this the "preferred method"? Can anyone confirm or deny?

Hmmm...thanks Jim. Good point about the axle and spacers, but I don't think they're all that hard to R&R. The "bubba" wrench could consume a little more time though. I plan on doing mine next weekend, so I guess I'll flip a coin to pick the method Grin

On the other hand, I'm definitely NOT a fan of leaving my ride incapacitated overnight...hmmm

Drink 1 beer

Dump fluid

Refill fluid
Install forks without forgetting turnsignals
Replace fork cap
Drink 1 beer

Pee
Go to bed

Get her vertical and only the forks will drain. Thanks for the inspiration!

Dang, I don't have exposed rafters in my garage. But, I could tie it to the garage door and use the opener to lift it for me!
