Ive been having problems with my fuses lately. The second fuse (as far as I know, controls the starting process of the bike) kept blowing. The first time, it had a 15 amp fuse in there, so it didnt surprise me that it blew. The second time, i was in a very bad place to break down, but I kept cool and ripped the tab off a random can in the gutter and was able to break off a piece that I was able to put in the fuse to connect the leads. The bike's been running that way for the weekend. I was at a station and picked up a fuse. When I replaced it, the new fuse popped as soon as I tried starting. When starting with the jury-rigged fuse, the starter hesitates at first, but it kicks in pretty quickly right after.

Any thoughts?

We should let those who know about this stuf jump in, but if the starter works with the tin can, has it been a long time since tune up? Good luck.

No experience on this one, but I have cleaned vdub generators before for renewed performance.

Robertomoe,

Like Thumperclone says, Power to the starter comes un-fused from the battery via the relay (sometimes called a starter solenoid, ..... but not by Suzuki) which is under the seat.

If you're blowing fuses when hitting the start button, look to a wiring problem or other component in the starting circuit (decompression solenoid, the controller, or the wiring to the handle bar switch.

EDIT: IF you don't have time to solve immediately, run to the local auto parts store and buy a thermal reset fuse, also call circuit breaker or thingy. Leaving the temp fix in could cause a fire!!!!!

Or do you push button and wait for a bit before it kicks in?
