OK, back to the savage then. I recruted a friend with a car and trailer and she's in my backyard now, marking her spot with some oil on the fresh newspaper I put under her.
The battery is conneted to the charger now. Tomorrow I will try to start her for the first time since a long time (several months, the previous owner told me yesterday evening).
Wish me (her) luck! Wink

You could drain the gas out of the carb (little screw on bottom of carb) and put fresh gas in tank. It really helps since gasoline ages pretty fast. Smiley

Agreed with VTail,  make sure there's no old fuel in the system.

Drain the fule tank too.  You will have better results trying to start the bike with totally fresh fuel.

Please note,  I would only put a few liters (quarts for us USA folks) in the fuel tank just in case there are other issues that might require the tank to be removed.

Update:
I tried to start her this evening. Battery placed and a little choke: It started within 2 seconds! The engine runs fine without any rattle or ticks. Because the oil warning light ( it's the one on the right side in the speedometer, is'nt it? )does not light up when I turn the key in the ignition on and I don't trust the oil level because of the leakage, I soon turned the engine off.
So it's reparing the leakage first. Because I have to clean the front and back brake first I have the time to look at the oil leakage. I've bought a tank in the right color with kilometers speedometer instead of the one with miles I have now.
And it's cleaning time also! Grin

That's not a oil light.

If you got a '86 it would be a kickstand light.  But it doesn't do anything on all the newer models.

To check the oil level there's a little window on the lowest right side in the very back.  Look closely and you'll see 2 lines in the side of the case next to the window for high and low oil levels.  Basically the oil level should be in the middle.

The bike should be held verticle while you're checking the level.  also should be ran for a minite or 2 then shut off for the check.   Grin

If the starter seal is leaking it will only drip for a short while after you turn the engine off because only a certain amount stays in the starter well.

If the shifter shaft seal is leaking, it will probably drip continuously when parked on the side stand.

Just a thought...

Never know Tongue

Al could be short for Alisha or Alice or Allistar or Allison...

But since you're a he, it might be short for Allen or Alvin or Alton or Aldridge 8)

Hi Al, welcome!

To clear up the gender confusion, you might want to change the "venus" icon to a "mars" - in your profile. Wink
