Dude, nice polish on the port there !   Wink

Yeah, it looks like it's gonna be a slow week, so I'm gonna start grinding on Reelthing's head soon, too.

It's nice to look down a port and see the valves or it would be if they were there.

Yeah, and don't forget that you get part of the blame for that.  It just took me 2 1/2 years to get around to it Tongue

Hi y'all....

Greg, I don't think I'm wasting gas...It was belching black smoke when my petcock sprang its inevitable leak, so I think I know what it doesn't like Smiley

I kept going up in size, and it doesn't smoke or bog...frankly, I think it would gladly take another, but no flat spots in the throttle and no smoke left me a purdy happy camper.  I figure I'll let it be for now.  The pilot, now that's another story.

As far as the squishy road mark... look, I'm not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers here.  You guys ride yours how you like, and I'll do the same on mine.  I obey the law most of the time, but out here in the good ol' Midwest, we got miles and miles of lonely blacktop.  As far as the squishy streak thing...yeah, I recognize that's a possibility every time I thumb the starter button.  It's a calculated risk I take.  However... I'm sure you guys have all heard the same thing from a friend or relative.  Don't ride above your ability, don't show off if you don't feel comfortable, and above all, have fun riding.  Sorry to hijack this thread...Like I said...I don't know how accurate that speedo is.  I just opened it up for a few minutes 'cause the service manual said that's okay.

Ride safe!

It says in the manual a savage should be able to do 100mph in 5th at 6500 rpm. NOT JOKING.

And your plug is nice and tan colored?

Is your brake arm blackened?

Whatever works, but you happen to be the only one I've heard of using a main jet that large.

Took the spacer out all together,(152.5 main,Mac exhaust, factory windscreen) This was on the flat, sitting upright, temperature 49 degrees. 6460rpm on ENM tach. Man this thing screames, pulls like a freighttrain till 90 indicated (on speedo) Popping is now rare and gone altogether between shifts. (used to pop all the time). Exhaust runs so clean, that when i put my fingers in, they stay clean. Never ran this strong and I think it'll pull past redline if I tucked in. The indicated speed on speedo was 98 (so slightly optomistic) Love it! With lower gearing (chain) I am sure it'll do or go past the Ton on the Sigma Grin Grin Grin

Vtail, just for my curiousity, what kind of miles per gallon are you getting w/ that set up?

My mean altitude is very close to yours.......I am thinking of loosing the white spacer all together.

Thanks,

Bill
