okay, went to try again today, several things (keep in mind I have about 3 tools, a problem Im realizing is a huge issue)  I spilled gas everywhere because the petcack was left On and the hoses came off while I was pulling the tank

got access to the plug but didnt get any farther b/c I didnt have a socket wrench to get it out

So I tried the bike without the plug hooked up, turned over and of course didnt do anything else, so I feel like its safe to say the starter works and most likely the plug

I was unable to take the drain out with the tools at hand (no stub screwdriver to get the screw out)

However, there's plenty of residue on the outside that looks like a lighter version of soy sauce.  Can I safely say that i should be looking only at the carb because of this residue?

No tool kit inside the locking cover on the right side?

Berto, get yourself down to harbour frieght and pick up a metric set of sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers and a gas can.  This stuff's cheap so it won't be your last set of tools.  If you want that go to sears and get craftsman.  But getrdon.

read the tech sect for carb issue to get familiar.

read about adjusting the valves.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was your cam chain.  When did you get the bike?  I can help you out maybe next weekend, but I'm all busted up from moving my parents.  So I'm limitted to looking over shoulders when it comes to low places.

Sounds like a dillema. Something like getting home from work, REAL tired & laying down, only to realize, WOW,, You are wayyy to hungry to sleep. Answer? YOU gonna lay there & starve to death with yer eyes open.

So, your bike wont start & you dont have the tools to fix it. One thing has to happen, either the bike has to start or you have to find a wa to get tools to fix it. You need to know, the clearance between head & plug is very thin. You need a real thin plug socket. My store bought plug socket wont go down there, only the Suzuki thin walled one fits in there. Dont know what else to say, I wish ya the best!

I found to get the spark plug out, that a 3/4 deep socket works well.

There is no Try.  There is DO or Do Not.

Sniffed the exhaust -- good fuel.  Rob spun the engine, it had those little coughs.  Just a matter of of releasing the starter and giving it a little throttle to catch that cough.

rob -- do you give it throttle?
me -- I don't know, let me see.

Really, I don't know what I do, I simply DO.  When questioned I have to DO and try to watch myself to see exactly what it is that I do.

Rob's bike has a quiet ticking when running, like too much play in the valve train.  No other nasty or unusual sounds.  Too little play in the rear brake, brake light wouldn't come on so I loosened it up a bit.  Front brake light switch has a broken lug -- told rob to remember to use the rear to light the light when stopping.  Not a bad little bike.

Since he hadn't posted since I show him how to start the bike I gave Robertomoe a call this morning.  He is able to start, and is too busy riding to post.  Hopefully some of that riding is to get some tools.
