Only thing that I've done is add a 3/8" spacer to each spring as an additional preload.

Don't know if it's really worth it...do know it's harder to screw the fork cap on Tongue

I'll second that!  Had a hard enough time without any additional pre-load.  Gave up trying with an open-ended wrench and had to buy a 27mm socket to force the cap down while keeping it aligned so the fine threads would catch.

i took a 1x2 two feet long and push down with my left hand and used and open in wrench it wasnt to bad at all  i was a carpenter

Yeah.  The socket is the way to go.  I did it the other way a couple times, but under the handlebars makes it just that much more difficult...I think a 1 1/16" socket works too.
