Meow...???
09/15/07 at 18:15:59
Don't laugh...this is serious! My wifes bike will make a "meowing" sound after being turned off, it will go on for a couple of days while sitting in the garage then tapers off. Happens about every 20-30 minutes. It sounds like it's coming from the tank but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone else seen or heard of this? The first fews times I heard it I thought one of our cats were stuck somewhere in the garage. I finally figured it out while working on mine...thought I was losing my mind. Strange!

The only cat noise mine makes is purring.
Are you certain it is the bike making the noise even after being completely cooled down and not run in a few days? That really IS odd....
Please describe meow noise more!

Ours (2006 CA models) do the same. I always assumed it is the gas cap vent drawing in air to relieve the slight pressure drop caused by the fuel vapors cooling.

That's what I'm figuring it is too. I'm glad to hear someone else has witnessed this too, thought I was losing it!

I'm VERY sure it's the bike making the noise, sounds just like a cat. As stated above I'm pretty sure it's the tank venting.

Why not open the gas cap when your wife finishes her next ride and hear some meowwing..if it doesn't stop immediately, then look between the front tire and front fender for furry frriend.

Mine does too.
Sounds like a cat wanting attention.
every minute of so, had the neighbor rolling.
didn't really notice it at first, cause our dam cat does the same thing and I've learned to tune it out.
Yes pop the gas cap off and it quits.

Back in the 70's wasn't it good to "Have a tiger in your tank" Exxon I think.
I know ha ha.But somebody out there would have remembered it and said it.

Mine did the same thing when I got it (CA approved model). I really thought one of my cats was trapped in the garage.
I pulled the gas cap in favor of a standard vent to the atmosephere one as well as removed the vapor return hoses.
The bike like it alot better when it can breathe easy..

Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.
