Custom floorboard question.
09/09/07 at 19:23:47
Hello,
I have a 2006 Boulevard S40 with factory installed front pegs. I have not been able to locate any floorboards that will fit my bike.
So, I have decided to modify the current pegs and run diamond plated metal from front to back. What I would like to know is what if anything I need to be sure of while doing this modification.
I have never done a modification before but I want boards that I can stand up on. I have been told not to ever drill holes in the frame.
I'm thinking of cutting the diamond plate to the shape I want and then have tubing cut and welded to fit. I figure I can attach them to the front pegs and possibly attach to the frame in the back from underneath.
I may even get engine guards and run the diamond plate up a bit.
Your thoughts?

If you mount them solid take into consideration ground clearance when the bike is leaned over. Also allow for max weight you will have on it.

I put some passenger universal pegs on mine using the stock pegs w/o the rubbers as a start. Soemone found some HD pegs that worked by drilling the pivot bolt out slightly larger. USe the search and look for articles on or with floorboards, Max

I did the Harley generic mini-boards on my 650. They don't fold all the way up, but in a little over two years I've never drug a peg on the ground. I am conservitive though in my turn speeds. There's a thread or two from me around here somewhere about what I did to make them work. don't really want to do all that typing again if I can help it. You can see them on the bike here. Nothing fancy but they do the job.

Jack,
I did search and read about your floorboards. However, for some reason, I couldn't see the pictures.
However, they came up this time and that would be perfect. I'll search for your original post again.
Thanks superman
