Throttle Lock
09/09/07 at 18:10:54

Have any of you used this?

NEP Cruise Control
Needs very little grip space for installation. May require moving the grip outward 1/8" on some bikes. Usually very easy to do. Size 7/8, not 1"

Comments, pros-cons, etc appreciated!

I have found I dont really need a throttle jockey. Such a large diameter grip requires little "squeeze" to hold it and for those times I do get tired I slip my hand down to hold the endcap & grip at the same time. If I would wrap a rubberband around the endcap, I expect it would make that even easier.
Now, to answer your question, No,, havent tried that BUT, If I was gonna do one, I would likely go with the thing that wraps around the grip & has a bit of a lever to place the palm on.

a friend of mine had that exact one on his maxim 650 and to tell ya the truth it was kinda flimsy. neither one of us ever used it as we took it off soon after he purchased the bike.

That one won't work, but this one does, it's a 1'' Vista Cruise. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/list.cfm?manufacturer_ID=291&mc=W-HCA . VC-07-4041. I love mine, use it all the time. Set friction where I can easely override it. Have had a Vista cruise on my Interstate since 1987.

Had one on my last bike.  Found that I didn't use it.

Takes a faction of a second to undo to slow down.

Hey skatnbnc, There is a thread about wrist rests

http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=RubberSideDown;action=display;n...

That may have some alternatives. I remembered reading through that one a while ago. Maybe you can find something there.

I know I don't want a wrist rest or a Cramp Buster.

The reason I was looking at the NEP is because it is smaller (narrower) than the Vista Cruise.
The NEP does look flimsy, so I guess I'll go with the Vista.

I was checking because I know with this many people on the forum, someone would have tried both types!
Thanks all.  Smiley

I put the Flip-a-lever throttle lock on mine... and it works fine.
http://www.schneidersinc.com/flip_a_lever.htm

Savage-Greg modified his Vista Cruise so it doesn't have that wide strap.

Both things are mentioned in that thread listed above.

When I first saw a Vista Cruise I thought that I would not have one on my bike.  That is until I played with one on another bike,  you can still roll it to put on the brake without having to undo the switch, I liked that.  I installed one on my bike!

vtail - what is that black strap for?
To install this Vista cruise you'd have to move the mirror/brake clamp over a little to make room for the vista-clamp. The throttle friction device fits over the thottle and that bar connects the two, to keep the friction-device from rotating. Smiley
