replacing that shift rod?
09/05/07 at 19:16:52

I tried unsuccessfully today to remove my broken shift rod.  Am I correct in my asessment that the nut that the rod screws into does not actually move? It appears that the nut is part of the assembly which the rod threads into.

Whats the solution to getting the old rod out?

Half of the rod is counter screwed, the other half is normal screwed.  You must loosen the nut away from the connection so that you can unscrew the rod.

The new rod must be screwed into both holes at the same time, that's why one is counter screwed.
