I just picked up the OEM bar .. and plan to install it this weekend.  I have some cheap footpegs laying around that I plan to mount on the bar.
I'm not looking for the bar to do any protection.. just something that looks ok that I can put pegs on so I can change position a bit.
Most pegs (including these) can fold up when not in use, so that would reduce how much of a "little bit" of help that it give for protection.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

Youzguyz.....

I forgot about the folding pegs Sad

My front/rider pegs don't fold up.....they were changed from oem ones before I bought it.....so I keep forgetting about the fold up pegs.(I really don't know why mine don't)

Yeah, youre right, wouldnt help much as far as adding protection Smiley

Thanks!

My '01 front OEM pegs are there, .......they sort of bend up if pushed .........but they aren't designed to stay up.

FreeSpirit,
The stock front driver pegs do not fold up, and are not designed to do so.  They just bend-up a little (like T-Mack says).  That is so they don't snap off (or pivot the bike) if you lean so far in a turn that you "scrape a peg".
Highway pegs.. that are mounted in addition to the driver pegs CAN fold up.. or not.  It depends on what you put on there.
The ones I have will fold up.

Oh,ok,so you can get highway pegs that dont fold up.

And my rider pegs are custom, not original and they will move up only/ maybe 1/8" .....Dont know if that's good or bad.

And don't understand why someone put those on like that.I would think its not good, but I dont know.
