N  Charleston eh ?
I lived in SC for 25 years before moving to OK, Little Mountain & Lexington in the Columbia area.  2 of my kids and 8 of my grands are still there.  My wife and I love the state and plan to get back and may settle in Georgetown when we do.
Welcome to the Savage site
.

Thanks for the welcome! The "downtown" area of Georgetown is really nice. Last year, the hubs and I rode up to Myrtle Beach on his CB1100 and stopped there for lunch.  Myrtle Beach was really meh. It reminded me of the Jersey shore  Tongue. Charleston beaches are much nicer. I'm entertaining the thought of going to their bike week, just to see all the hubbub at least once, but I've had several people tell me to stay away.

Welcome!

Good for you for taking the course. I did too. Seems the slow stuff is what gets most people, but the positive thing to take from that is knowing what your limitations are and making them better, which you are. Yes, few people probably die from a 5mph accident, but what this is teaching you is muscle memory of managing the clutch, throttle, front brake, back brake, and of course steering and balance all at once so you don't pop the clutch at a stoplight and jump a curb into oncoming traffic or dump the bike off a steep ravine on a slow mountain pass.

Keep doing what you're doing...it took me several months to get the nerve to go over 45mph after I started riding at age 38 on my Savage.  Now I am giving Evel Kneivel a run for his money (JK).

If you need help on the bike there are members here happy to help if we're close by there or you are in the neighborhood when we're on one of our spring TN/NC/N-GA rides.

This past weekend, I increased my speed and distance of travel. I got myself to the local high school parking lot (big open space to practice, even if only on weekends) and then to a Starbucks afterwards. Round trip was 15 miles or so, 40 mph max.  I also managed to successfully do the cone weave once, as well as the sharp turn into a u-turn. Small steps! Hah. The following day, I got up to 55 mph going to the DMV. I was going to practice the skills test, but rain clouds were moving in, so we headed back home. That was 40 miles roundtrip. It's all starting to come together, I think! I'm still making silly mistakes (shifting into neutral instead of 2nd. d'oh!), but such is the life of a beginner.  Grin

Neutral can catch any rider.....even those of us who have been riding a very long time - and it usually happens whenever there are folks watching!

Neutral? that's nothing... let us know when you find the neutral between 4th and 5th, then we know you're rockin'   Cool

Hey guys. I just picked up my first Suzuki yesterday (on letgo) . The guy got a lot of parts from an 02 and got the frame and forks from a friend. Its not in the best condition but I'm going to try and make it cool. Glad I came across this forum!

Hello all. Just bought my first bike at 61. 2011 with just 540 miles. Located in DC area. Price and condition were right so I made a trip to PA for the purchase. Ended up being a 13 hour day on the road. Well worth it.

Have a full day of tinkering lined up with oil change, Raptor petcock, Dyna install, carb clean and rejetting. Wouldn't know to do all this without this forum. Already fixed an issue with no rear turns or running light. Turned out to be corrosion in the ignition switch. Of course I went through every connector before I found the problem. However, I gained a lot of knowledge in doing so.

Anyway, glad to be on board.

Hi everybody, I just bought a 2009 S40 a week ago but have been lurking in the forum for a couple of weeks now. I really grateful that an active for like this exists with knowledge on all the ins and outs of the bike.

Hello all

Purchased a low mileage 2013 S40 w/ orange & black two tone a couple weeks ago.  Stumbled to this forum for tips and guidance with this 20+ year old bike design.

Soon to tackle a new slip-on muffler, front pulley, carb servicing, and just riding the piss out of the bike!

Hello all,

I am 33 and i just bought my first bike after the BRC course. I purchased this 2005 Suzuki 650 two weeks ago and its in need of some TLC. I am looking for fellow riders in my area who would like to cruise the Adirondacks.

For now, i'm just trying to get all the maintenance done and get her in tip top shape. New rider, Marine Combat Veteran. (2006-2014)

Looking for people to ride with in Upstate NY.

Greetings to all you Savages!

I have lucked up and for zero $$$ find myself being the proud owner of 2009 Suzuki Boulevard S40  Cool.

Unfortunately, it has sat in someone's garage for the past 5 years with the same gas etc etc :'(. This forum has been a God send providing a one stop shop of info and I want to take a sec and thank all who have posted questions and especially those who provided the answers. I look forward to a long relationship and many mods together!
